SAM WORLOBAH FOUND GUILTY OF MURDER AFTER IMPERSONATING MEDICAL DOCTOR

MONROVIA – A 12-man jury at Criminal Court “A” on Monday, September 15, 2025, unanimously convicted Sam Worlobah of murder, bringing to a close a high-profile case that has shaken public confidence in Liberia’s healthcare sector.

Worlobah, who had posed as a certified medical doctor at the Lofa Medical Clinic, was found guilty of causing the unlawful death of a young man after carrying out medical procedures without any formal qualifications. The verdict followed hours of final arguments and jury deliberations, ending in a unanimous declaration of guilt.

Investigations established that Worlobah had no medical training and was never registered with the Liberia Medical and Dental Council, yet he carried out critical procedures under false pretenses. Prosecutors described his conduct as reckless and deceptive, arguing that his actions directly resulted in the patient’s death.

The courtroom atmosphere was tense as the jury foreperson delivered the verdict. The victim’s family responded with mixed emotions, some breaking into tears while others expressed relief that justice had been served after weeks of testimony.

Presiding Judge Wesseh Alphanso Wesseh praised the jury for what he called a “careful and courageous decision.” He announced that sentencing would take place on September 22, at which time Worlobah could face life imprisonment under Liberian law.

Lead prosecutor Atty. Andrew Tellewoyan welcomed the outcome, describing it as a victory for the rule of law and a deterrent to impostors in sensitive professions. “This verdict sends a clear message: deceit will not be tolerated when lives are at risk,” Tellewoyan said.

Defense lawyer Cllr. Sanny Carlor, however, expressed disappointment and confirmed that an appeal to the Supreme Court of Liberia would be filed.
