LIBERIA – Charles Taylor’s gun buyer and former Maritime Commissioner, Benoni Urey is going to court, not for his crimes against the people of Liberia, but to answer to an application filed by his wife seeking to end her thirty-six (36) years of marriage with him.
Mr. Benoni Wilfred Urey was sued at civil law court at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia by Mrs. Mai Bright Urey.
Mrs. Urey, the mother of four, who got married to the ALP political leader on May 25, 1986, confirmed to the civil law court that her decision to end their marital contract is based on incompatibility of temper.
She furthered that she is not interested in any property belonging to her and the ALP political leader, all she needs is an amount of US$1000 to pay her lawyer, according to a local newspaper report.
While incompatibility of temper remains the only count action by Mrs. Urey, there are also speculations that her action is in connection to her husband’s recent decision to drag the Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress, Mr. Alexander Cummings, to Court.
The paper alleged that Mr. Urey is already under the jurisdiction of the Court and has interposed no objection to his wife’s action of divorce for incompatibility of tamper as provided by law.
