MONROVIA – The founding chairperson for the political action group in support of a Joe Boakai presidency, the National Alliance for JNB, former President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Mr. Armah Zolu Jallah, is wooing Liberians to vote for the Unity Party (UP) presidential ticket, which has as standard bearer and vice standard bearer, ex-VP Joseph N. Boakai (JNB) and Nimba Senator Jeremiah Kpan Koung respectively.
Jallah intimated recently that one of the disheartening issues for which a democratic change of government is now required in Liberia is the scenario being witnessed by Liberians on a daily basis, where he stated that their country, its business sector, and by extension its economy, are given to foreigners, while the citizens remain spectators, against the expressed pledge incumbent President George Weah made at his inauguration in 2018.
“Boakai – Koung will change this trajectory for the nation,” Jallah stated.
According to him, as president, Joe Boakai’s administration will invest in Liberian and Liberian-owned businesses, adding, “The Liberianization policy will be fully enforced and if possible, expanded to other sectors of the economy, to include equity for Liberians in our natural resources harvesting and exploitation.”
“We will forge bilateral partnerships with Rwanda, in green economy; Singapore, in health care, banking, finance and a corruption-free society; Israel, in agriculture and technology; South Korea and Japan, in manufacturing and advancing our TVET program for the youthful population; and Malaysia, in oil palm, rubber and timber harvesting and processing and exploration for petroleum, amongst others,” Jallah vowed.
He reminded Liberians that the cost of freedom is always high, but he urged Liberians that they must be prepared to pay for it on 10 October by voting for the UP’s Boakai/Koung ticket, which is at the #2 slot on the ballot paper for the 2023 presidential election.
“I ask your help for Boakai/Koung in this election. Give us your hearts, give us your voice, give us your feet, and give us your hands. With your help, we can win and together, we can build a strong and vibrant society for all Liberians,” Jallah further wooed Liberians, adding, “Liberians must have the willingness to dare.”
He asserted that neither does the future of Liberia and any society belong to those who are contented with today, nor to those who he said are apathetic toward common problems and their fellow men alike, as well as being timid and fearful in the face of new ideas and bold projects and enterprises.
Rather, Jallah, a member of the UP National Campaign Team, noted that it will belong to those who can blend passion, reason, and courage in a personal commitment to the great ideas and great enterprises of the Liberian society.
“It will be for those who see that wisdom can only emerge from the clash of contending views, the passionate expression of deep and hostile beliefs,” said Jallah, while quoting one of the famous quotes of exclaimed Greek philosopher Plato: “A life without criticism is a life not worth living.’’
He pointed out that it is in a similar spirit of the Liberian democracy, citizens of the country must embrace and fight while hoping their country becomes a better nation.
“As we embark on this political campaign in 2003, let us be guided by the message I have here and define a political team that can help reach the nation on this course and I believe Boakai/Koung ticket can lead us there,” the former Senate Pro Temp concluded.
