LIBERIA – Lofa County lawmaker, Senator Steve Zargo, has asserted that the recent denial allegedly by state security officers of the Political Leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), Commander-In-Chief Emmanuel D. Gonquoi, from entering the hall designated for the signing of the Farmington Declaration, was a mistake.
Gun-toting state security officers from the presidential bodyguard unit the Special Protection Service (EPS), assigned with President George Weah, on 4 April, prevented CIC Gonquoi’s entry into the hall designated for the signing of the Farmington Declaration, which seeks to reaffirm commitment to a non-violent, free, fair and transparent general and presidential elections later this year on 10 October.
In spite of claims made by a Government spokesman that state security officers did not prevent the EFFL leader entry into the venue for the signing of the Farmington Declaration, multiple sources divulged that elite security bodyguards assigned to President Weah allegedly denied CIC Gonquoi entry on the ground that he arrived late.
Although the sources’ claims have not been independently verified, they also disclosed that pleas from NEC authorities for the EFFL newly elected Political Leader to be allowed entry was turned down by the EPS agents at the signing ceremony of the Farmington Declaration.
Howbeit, the Lofa senator, who is the Chairman of the Liberian Senate’s Committee on Security, Defense, and Intelligence, Zargo, has termed as a mistake, the EFFL leader’s denial of entry into the hall for the signing ceremony of the Farmington Declaration, allegedly by state security officers.
Senator Zargo, who told a local radio station Thursday he was not actually certain that the exclusion of the EFFL from the Farmington Declaration signing process was by accident or mistake, pointed out that the party’s exclusion should be corrected.
“It’s something that needs to be corrected, I don’t think it was deliberate. It was a mistake,” Senator Zargo stated.
Chief Squanderer, JNB, with no vision was on hand to do George Weah’s bidding. Countless instances of electoral violence perpetrated by George Weah and CDC gangsters, yet opposition politicians go to sit on the same table with President Weah to sign a meaningless paper. Meanwhile we have lost count of the number of political violence incidents in which there were, No Arrest, No Prosecution, and certainly, No Conviction. George Weah is a disgrace.
