FRESHMAN AMEU STUDENT ATTACKED AND SEVERELY INJURED BY CRIMINALS IN BREWERVILLE

Date:

MONROVIA – On Monday, May 20, Irene Gahwon, a freshman student at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU), was brutally attacked by two criminals in Brewerville around 9 p.m. riding a motorbike. The assailants made off with her bag, phone, and money, leaving Gahwon severely injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attack nearly resulted in Gahwon’s death. The criminals inflicted a deep wound on her left hand, leaving her in a critical condition. She was immediately rushed to New Community Health Center for urgent medical attention.

In a statement given in immense pain, Gahwon recounted her ordeal. She explained that she was returning from school but got delayed due to heavy traffic. During this time, she was attacked by the assailants who robbed her and inflicted severe injuries. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later referred to John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital in Sinkor, Monrovia.

However, this incident has sparked renewed calls for the Liberia National Police (LNP) to increase night patrols to combat the rising rate of criminal activity in Monrovia and its surrounding areas. Residents are urging authorities to take swift action to ensure the safety and security of the community.
