LIBERIA – Deputy Speaker Fornati Koffa of the House of Representatives says the United States’ opinions are taken seriously globally. He stated that justly or unjustly, “we must take these sanctions seriously and deepen our engagement with the United States, our oldest and biggest ally.”
Cllr. Koffa speaking to legislative reporters after Tuesday’s Session, notes, however, that he makes no judgment of anybody designated by the sanctions, but insists Liberians must take the issue seriously.
“No one can contest these U.S. sanctions with a straight face. The Americans are thorough, methodical, and impartial in their investigations. They have more than enough resources and all the sophistication to source any information they desire anywhere around the world including great Russia”, he indicates, adding “The U.S. Treasury relies on credible information from the CIA, FBI, and a string of credible sources to gather credible pieces of information on individuals and governments.”
The Grand Kru County lawmaker explained that these pieces of information when generated are then subjected to thorough corroboration and verification before final decisions are made.
These investigations take years to ensure ample time to piece together the evidence with the view of ensuring that they meet the highest level of integrity, he pointed out.
