MONROVIA – Former President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate and ex-Senator of Gbarpolu County, Armah Zolu Jallah, has asserted that President-elect, Joseph N. Boakai (JNB), has ahead of him, a herculean task of nation-building, as he assumes the Liberian presidency early next year.
As the National Elections Commission (NEC) continues the announcement of consolidated tallied progressive results from the country’s recently conducted presidential runoff election, Boakai and his Unity Party (UP) are presumptive winners.
At the weekend, incumbent President George Weah of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) in a phone call to JNB, congratulated the former Vice President for being the winner of the 14 November presidential runoff election.
In a late evening nationwide address aired via state radio, Mr. Weah indicated that the results, as announced by the NEC last Friday, put Boakai in an unassailable lead, stating; “A few moments ago, I spoke with President-elect Joseph Nyuma Boakai to congratulate him on his victory.”
Howbeit, former Pro-Temp Jallah stated at the weekend that, as Boakai takes over from Weah, following his inauguration in January of 2024, the UP political leader’s administration has a colossal task.
Jallah, a member of the UP’s 2023 Campaign Team that traversed the country wooing Liberians to elect Boakai, congratulated JNB and all his supporters, emphasizing that the task ahead was however, herculean aimed at the new administration primarily forging reconciliation among a vastly politically divided population, as well reworking the economy to the benefit of all Liberians.
“Congratulations to us all for a fight well fought and won,” Jallah stated, adding; “We now have the herculean task of rebuilding a nation.”
