MONROVIA – Liberia’s presidential election is on a path for a run-off.
Today the chairperson of the National Election Commission, Davidetta Brown-Lansanah announced provisional results that showed President George Weah and opposition leader, Amb. Joseph N. Boakai neck-to-neck.
President Weah holds a slim lead with 43.79% of the vote, while Amb. Joseph Boakai has 43.49%, according to tallied results from 98.4% of polling places, according to the National Elections Commission chairperson.
To avoid a run-off, the winner must secure more than 50% of votes cast.
On October 10 the National Elections Commission conducted presidential and legislative election.
