Many Liberians have criticized the management of the National Port Authority for publicizing updates to its website after years of dormancy.
Major news media in the country gave headlines to such an “Embarrassing situation” at the Freeport of Africa’s oldest state.
Some of the reports on the NPA’s website issue said “On Sept. 15, the new management unveiled the website which contains much-needed information on the Freeport of Monrovia and all other ports across the country — boosting communication amongst users of the ports.”
But one Liberian who spoke out against this is Geeply Cabral Cherbo.
He wrote on his Facebook page that it’s not news to update a website.
He wonders how a major multi-million dollar state own entity has a website a news item or something to rejoice about.
Cabral Cherbo said its does not even worthy of a press release and was shocked that the new NPA manager has this article trending in all the dailies in the country.
According to him simply shows the desperation of the new management to show she’s hit the ground running; stating clearly that this is a trivial piece of a news article that does not deserve any headlines.
Another Liberian who commented on the NPA website story is James Foko Teah. He called the website story “very embarrassing” not just for the new management, but for the public affairs people at the port.
He stated that it is the role of the PR officers at the port to keep the website alive. And to say that the website has been updated just on September 15 means the public affairs office has also been dormant.
Another Liberian said the media must stop making nonsense of themselves. Urias Mulbah indicated that pages wasted by the media to publicize the website issue could have been used to highlight the suffering of the masses based on the alleged failure of the Weah Government.
