LIBERIA – Senator Jeremiah Koung of Nimba County has been elected as the new standard bearer of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR). Senator Koung was elected on a white ballot.
He was elected as the political leader on Thursday, December 22 during the party’s 2nd national convention held at Jackie’s Guest House in Gompa City, Nimba County.
Sen. Koung takes over from the founder of the party, Sen. Prince Yormie Johnson.
Making a brief statement following his election vowed to run for president in the 2023 national elections, saying, “I have tested the water three times and I understand the political environment.
“I am going for it. We can make it!”
Senator Koung continued: “Being at this level didn’t come by surprise, I worked for it.”
