MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A prominent delegation from the United States House of Representatives Democracy Partnership is scheduled to meet with House Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa on Monday, April 15th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Speaker’s Capitol Building Office in Monrovia, Liberia.
The main objective of this meeting is to offer support for enhancing budget process participation within the Parliament of Liberia. This collaborative effort reflects the mutual commitment of both nations to promoting transparent and inclusive governance.
The delegation comprises esteemed members including Ann Futrell from the Congressional Budget Office, Christian Walker from Cornerstone Government Affairs Group, and Alisa Burn-Murdoch from the Parliament of Scotland. They will engage in discussions with Honorable Speaker J. Fonati Koffa to outline the goals of the program and gather insights into budget management within the House of Representatives.
Later the same day, at 4:00 p.m., the U.S. House Delegation is set to meet with the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives, Mildred Sayon. This meeting aims to delve deeper into the current budget process, explore ways to enhance public engagement, and review procedures for amending standing orders.
On Tuesday, April 16th, at 4:00 p.m., the delegation will engage with the Press and Public Affairs Department of the House. The discussion will focus on utilizing digital platforms to boost citizen participation in the budget process, aiming to create a more inclusive and responsive governance framework.
