LIBERIA: EFFL COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF GONQUOI WARNS TROUBLEMAKERS

Date:

MONROVIA – The commander-in-chief of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), Emmanuel Gonquoi, has vowed to go after troublemakers or politicians who endeavor to deny Liberians to once again exercise their democratic franchise come Tuesday, October 10.

“Any group of people that would endeavor to deny the people the chance to once again allow the Liberian democracy to be regardless in the sub-region, we will come after you because that means that you represent the enemy of the state,” he added.

Gonquoi emphasized that the EFFL will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt or manipulate the upcoming democratic elections in Liberia.

He firmly believes that every Liberian citizen has the right to freely choose their leaders and shape the future of their country.

Gonquoi sent out the early warning on Monday, October 2, at a brief press conference held in Congo Town. The C-I-C indicated that the EFFL would actively identify and confront those who seek to undermine the democratic process.

The EFFL, Gonquoi said, is unwavering in its commitment to economic freedom, social justice, and political accountability.

“Today, we join our fellow Liberians in expressing apprehension regarding the integrity of the upcoming electoral process on issues at the heart of our democracy,” he maintained.

According to him, the EFFL is ready to take measures to protect the votes of the Liberian people by deploying teams at voting precincts across the country to deter and prevent any forms of distraction and intimidation of voters.

“We stand prepared to collaborate closely with the NEC and security agencies to ensure free, fair, and credible elections. The EFFL emphasizes the utmost seriousness with which we approach these elections and urges the NEC to take due note,” Gonquoi stressed.

He believes that for Liberia to emerge from its current economic and political challenges, the upcoming elections must serve as a beacon of hope and a testament to the strength of our democracy.

“Let the voice of the Liberian people resonate strongly on October 10, 2023, for it is through their ballots that the destiny of our nation will be shaped,” he stated.

Gonquoi further noted that as Liberia stands at this pivotal juncture, the EFFL urges the international community to pay heed to these disturbing matters. “We pray for their prompt intervention to ensure that Liberia’s democracy remains unblemished by irregularities, doubts, and fraud.”

He explained, “The destiny of our nation hangs in the balance, and we cannot afford to falter in our pursuit of a free, fair, and credible electoral process. And we will continue to hold stakeholders, including the National Elections Commission, to the fire to ensure that these elections are free and that the rights of our people are protected.”

In conclusion, Gonquoi believed the Liberian people want nothing other than a free and fair election, and the EFFL remains unwavering in its commitment to the people of Liberia.
