NIMBA COUNTY – A 20-year-old woman met her untimely death in Ganta on Friday night, April 14, 2023, after being reportedly stabbed multiple times by a man believed to be her ex-boyfriend in Royal Community, Ganta City, Nimba County.
Lucelia Gonleseh was stabbed at about 7:25 pm on the left side of her chest and on her neck allegedly by her former boyfriend who is only identified as Jefferson, aged 30.
According to KMTV, though the actual cause of the man’s reported action remains uncertain, however, an explanation from anonymous neighbors of the victim including her current boyfriend identified as Richard suggests that the incident was triggered by jealousy.
Explaining to KMTV’s reporter, Lucelia’s present boyfriend said ‘He and the victim were on their way home while coming from the road where they have gone to get meat pepper soup to eat their rice.’
The accused perpetrator suddenly appeared from behind them and hit the victim on her back. “I then asked him why are you hitting my girlfriend for? He never answered me, but just started beating on the girl before I look, I saw him with the knife and plucked it in her chest that’s how I started shouting for help,” Richard narrated to KMTV.
According to KMTV, the victim was rushed to the hospital following the incident but was already dead before reaching the E&J Medical Center according to the doctor’s pronouncement.
The victim’s mother, Mamie Saye confirmed to the news outlet that her deceased daughter and the alleged perpetrator had been in a relationship in the past, but the pair have separated since and are both in different relationships now.
There is even a surviving child between them who has been staying with the deceased victim and her present boyfriend, Richard.
According to the news outlet, suspect Jefferson was immediately transferred to Sanniqullie in order to avoid potential mob violence from an angry crowd and is currently in police custody awaiting preliminary investigation.
