AMOS SAWYER COLLEGE, INDIAN UNIVERSITY STRENGTHEN ACADEMIC TIES

The Sharda University in India Ambassador to the Republic of Liberia and Dean of the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities at the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Josephus Moses Gray, paid a courtesy call to the International Relations President of Sharda Group of Companies and Sharda University, Dr. Ashok Daryani, Prof. Dr. Parma  Naned, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Prof. dr. Anviti Gupta, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Science; Prof. Dr. Titu  S. Sood, Dean, School of Creative Art, Design and Media Studies; Dean of School of Computer Science,  Dean of Engineering College and the Director of Suno Radio, 90.1 FM radio station at Sharda University. The Sharda University is located in Knowledge Park, Greater Norda, New Delhi, India

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, 10 July 2024, aimed to highlight the potential impact of the fruitful academic ties subsisting between the two institutions in fostering a strong mutual interest and further strengthen the ties that provide unique and life touching opportunity for partnership and collaboration for scholarship for faculty members, staffs and students.

The productive discussion with the President and Deans to explore the concept of faculty sabbaticals, exchange of students, joint projects, degree transfer programs, scholarships and short and midterm academic programs, and establishment of centers of excellence.

Dr. Gray on arrived in the Indian capital, New Delhi to represent the University of Liberia and participate in the International Graduation Convocation of the Sharda University. The splendid ceremony held June 29th at the institution’s World-class auditorium in Knowledge Park was an eye-catching, marvelous and fabulous event with less speeches, but colorful events.

During the separate meetings, Dr. Gray expressed gratitude to the administration Sharda University for the fruitful academic ties between University of Liberia and Sharda University which provide unique and life touching opportunity that guarantee attractive and concrete academic and medical benefits.

The landmark relationship between Sharda University and the University of Liberia guarantee attractive and concrete benefits exchange of faculty and students, exchange of Scholars, medical projects, dual degree / credit transfer programs, short and long terms programs, semester credit transfer/study abroad at Sharda University, semester student exchange and conducting collaborative research projects.

Dr. Gray used our remarks to thank everyone, praised the President, Deans and administration of Sharda University for the unique ties between our two institutions of higher learning. “We were very impressed about academic performance and positive feedback from their Deans, Chairpersons and Professors regarding the high quality performance of graduates from Liberia”, said Dr. Gray.

Sharda University maintains strict adherence to either publish before be promoted or perish which means if a particular faculty fail to publish a peer-reviewed article or book, the faculty cannot be promoted on the job.

This is the policy of the Indian Government and is strictly adhered to by all universities and colleges. Therefore, it is obligatory that faculty publish two to three peer-reviewed articles in one of the recognized journals and published book.

It is also mandatory for a department to publish a book every year. The Sharda University Campus is very peaceful and quiet. No political party on the campus or student violent activities. There is no history of faculty or staff go-slow or protest. Instead, disagreements are resolved amicably through the Special Committee or Deans. The institution is a private university and as such it attaches importance to academic activities, not students’ politics.

The school develops political scientists who go into the world to contribute positively to societal growth. The faculty and students at Sharda University and teaching Hospital yearly have published over 3,000 per-reviewed articles, books, book chapters, research works. Every student at Sharda University and teaching hospital must conduct research under the supervision of a senior faculty who must hold a Ph.D. degree in the field or discipline of the student program.

From 8am up to 9PM, the Sharda university library is open to students and faculty members and the books and other academic materials are well coded and arranged according to schools and degree program. Besides the hard copies of books and materials, the school also has in its database over 60,000 electronic books, journals, manuscripts, and other educational materials for students and faculty use. Sharda Group of Institutions has been a provider of world-class education since 1996. It is the largest educational group based in Uttar Pradesh, having 13,000+ students and 900+ faculty strength. It has 23000+ alumni.
