LIBERIA – Former Vice President Joe Boakai has arrived in the U.S. and trashed reports that he received funds from Pres. Weah to cover his medication.
He told supporters on arrival at the JFK Airport not to be deceived by those who are plundering the resources of the motherland.
The Unity Party Standard Bearer termed as ‘nonsense and irresponsible’ the claims allegedly made by people around President Weah who said he received money from the Government to cover his medication in the U.S.
The UP Strongman is expected to begin catching up with his itinerary to achieve the objective of his visit to the United States said a press release from the party.
He reiterated that his mission to rescue Liberia is well on course and that no amount of propaganda against him will succeed.
Mr. Boakai disclosed that those who believe in the Unity Party and its manifesto are on the right track to deal with the mountains of problems in the country.
I find nothing wrong with former V.P. Boakai receiving financial support from the current Liberia government to seek advanced medical treatment abroad, the U.S. to be precise. However, what I find disturbing is the hypocrisy associated with political statements made by Boakai’s political party, the Unity Party, and his supporters who claimed that his show-up at the ELWA hospital a fortnight ago was to sincerely demonstrate leadership that he is politically inclined to content himself with the Liberian health system as any ordinary Liberian. This deception is worrisome, and demonstrates the dishonesty of the Amb. Boakai as a politician that can be trusted as well as his double-tongued and two-faced publicists.
