MONROVIA – Alexander B. Cummings, the standard bearer of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), is expected to announce that Charlyne M. Brumskine is being considered as his potential vice-presidential running mate for the upcoming elections.
Presidential and General Elections are scheduled to be held on October 10, 2023. However, the weekend announcement is expected to add a boost to the ANC’s ticket in Grand Bassa County.
Grand Bassa County, a key political battleground, has historically played a significant role in Liberian politics. Its strategic importance as one of the country’s major economic centers, along with its substantial population, makes it a pivotal region for political campaigns.
Charlyne M. Brumskine, a seasoned politician and lawyer, inclusion on the ANC ticket has been received with great enthusiasm by the party’s supporters in the country.
The potential selection of Brumskine as the vice-presidential candidate aligns with Cummings’ vision of fostering inclusive governance and empowering local communities and a new approach to national governance.
The ANC standard bearer has repeatedly emphasized the need for competent and capable leadership that represents all Liberians, transcending regional and ethnic boundaries.
With Brumskine hailing from this influential county, the ANC’s ticket gains considerable momentum and credibility among Grand Bassa’s residents. Elders and citizens of Grand Bassa and the southeastern region of the country have reportedly expressed satisfaction over the potential pick of one of their own, sources say.
Political pundits predict that the ANC’s selection of Brumskine as a potential vice-presidential candidate will likely increase the party’s appeal and broaden its support base, especially within Grand Bassa County.
The move is expected to resonate with voters who seek a diverse leadership that represents their interests and understands the challenges they face.
The Chairman of the CPP Mr. Musa Hassan Bility told a social media outlet late last week, “We will shake Buchanan city!” but declined to fully divulge the confirmation of the Vice-Presidential pick.
Thousands are expected to swarm the seaside city of Buchanan on Saturday for the event.
Bility also announced that he is constructing an LP office in the County to honor the legacy of the founder of the Liberty Party the late Counselor Charles Walker Brumskine.
