DID CIA VIOLATE LIBERIA’S SOVEREIGNTY BY GRILLING ITS PRESIDENT?

Date:

MONROVIA – Liberians are shocked that their leader, former soccer star George Weah has subjected himself to grilling by the Central Intelligence Agency of the United States of America.

The Liberian leader left the country last Friday. An official statement from the Executive Mansion says the President was traveling to the USA and Dubai to meet with officials of the two countries.

By Monday, news broke the Liberian President was being grilled by US security officials. The reasons were not given.

The Liberian government has yet to speak on the issue, despite social media reports the President was with the CIA. If this is true, what prompted the grilling of a President of another country by the Americans?

As a general rule, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) does not have the legal authority to summon or compel the attendance of foreign heads of state.

The CIA is an intelligence agency that operates under the direction of the President of the United States and is primarily responsible for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information to support the national security interests of the United States, said a top Liberian security expert.

The Expert told Smart News that the authority to summon or compel the attendance of foreign heads of state typically rests with the Department of State, which is responsible for conducting diplomacy and representing the United States in its relations with foreign governments.

However, he said, even the Department of State does not have unlimited authority in this regard and must operate within the constraints of international law, diplomatic norms, and the specific circumstances of each situation.

In practice, it is rare for foreign heads of state to be summoned or compelled to appear before U.S. officials, and such actions are usually reserved for extreme circumstances, such as in cases of war crimes or other serious violations of international law.

It is not known whether the Liberian leader has committed any of those crimes. Meanwhile, Smart News has gathered that the meeting between the CIA and President Weah has ended and that he has left the US for Dubai.

  1. Any one can be invited to assist an investigation, esp. if he/she may have specific information. While my uncle is President of Liberia, there will never be charges forthcoming. But he shouldn’t push his luck. I’m sure Gen. Manuel Antonio Noriega of PANAMA thought the same way when he was president of PANAMA. Until the Americans said enough is enough, we’re coming for you. And that story ended with “General” Noriega spending 10+ years in a US prison. Tell my uncle not to push his luck. If the American can arrest a “General” and “President”; what will they do to a “footballer” and “musician”? Go figure!

  2. One of the reasons for which president weah was invited is the secret killing on in the country, the planing to Rick elections, the involvement of city major in States affairs, the 250000000,mob excise The Gloria Scot situation
