FORMER POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATION AND EXTORTION IN MONROVIA

Date:

LIBERIA – The Liberia National Police has arrested, investigated, and sent to court Boimah Joe, an adult resident of the Jallah Town Community, for impersonating a police officer.

According to a press release issued today and signed by police spokesperson Cecelia Clark, Joe was arrested on Saturday, June 1, 2024, during the evening hours after he was seen extorting money from drivers along the Capitol By-pass in Monrovia.

The police investigation revealed that Boimah Joe had been dismissed from the Liberia National Police over four years ago for being consistently Absent Without Leave (AWOL) while assigned as a civilian driver in Voinjama, Lofa County.

The report further established that Joe was apprehended in full police uniform while unlawfully serving as a traffic police officer and harassing citizens.

Suspect Boimah Joe has been sent to court pending prosecution.
