MONROVIA – Today, G. Wasuwah Barvoul, Director of the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), spoke at the launch of Fire Prevention Awareness 2024, in honor of International Firefighter’s Day on May 4th. The event aimed to raise awareness about fire safety and prevention measures in Liberia.

He also emphasized the importance of fire extinguishers in homes and vehicles, noting that they are crucial for saving lives despite being perceived as expensive.

Regarding manpower and representation, especially in Monrovia, Barvoul outlined President Joseph Newman Parker’s vision to recruit firefighters locally, ensuring proper representation and support for all regions.
In closing, Barvoul emphasized the importance of prevention and collaboration in improving fire safety. He praised partners, including financial institutions, for their support and encouraged everyone to prioritize fire safety and support the LNFS’s efforts.
As Liberia works to enhance its firefighting capabilities, the LNFS is committed to ensuring a swift and effective response to fires nationwide, aiming for a response time of less than ten minutes in every city and household.
