MCC DISMISSES PROCUREMENT ASSISTANT OVER SOCIAL MEDIA ATTACKS ON PRESIDENT BOAKAI

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Mr. Richard Singbeh, the Procurement Assistant at the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), has been terminated from his position following his consistent and deliberate social media attacks against President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. The dismissal was formalized in a letter dated August 13, 2024, and signed by Mayor John-Charuk Siafa, with copies sent to relevant departments within the MCC.

The termination letter, titled “LETTER of TERMINATION,” states that Mr. Singbeh’s employment was ended with immediate effect due to his repeated and intentional insults directed at President Boakai and other government officials. The letter accuses Singbeh of demonstrating gross disregard for his official duties and violating ethical standards outlined in the MCC’s Human Resource Policy and the Labor Law of Liberia.

The letter cites specific breaches of the MCC’s Human Resource Policy Manual, particularly Chapter Six, Section 6.2, which addresses neutrality and participation in strikes and protests. Additionally, it refers to the Labor Law of Liberia, Section 1508, which governs employee dismissal. The letter highlights that Singbeh’s actions were inconsistent with the expected conduct for someone in his position.

In closing, the letter expresses appreciation for Singbeh’s past services and requests that he return all MCC property, including his identification card, to the Human Resources Department.
