PRESIDENT JOSEPH BOAKAI’S REPORT ON THE FIRST 100 DAYS OF GOVERNMENT

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., delivered a comprehensive report on the first 100 days of his administration at the Executive Mansion on May 1, 2024. The report highlighted the achievements, challenges, and future goals of his government.

President Boakai began by acknowledging the expectations of the Liberian people for a responsive government that would address the long-standing issues of deprivation, indignity, and insecurity. He expressed gratitude for the faith and support of the people in the government’s ability to bring about positive change.

The President outlined the key objectives of the government’s 100-day deliverables plan, which included ensuring accountability in the public sector, addressing infrastructure needs, expanding educational opportunities, combating drug abuse, and promoting economic development.

In the area of agriculture, the government completed a national agriculture development plan and began cultivating land to reduce rice importation. Efforts to improve healthcare included distributing essential medicines and medical supplies to all drug depots in 13 counties and reducing maternal and neonatal deaths.

Road rehabilitation and infrastructure improvements were prioritized, with major road corridor projects undertaken in several counties. The government also focused on strengthening public administration, sanitation, and education, including paying scholarship arrears and investing in youth capacity building in ICT.

President Boakai highlighted the government’s legislative agenda, which included submitting three bills to establish key ministries and enhance governance processes.

Despite the achievements, the President acknowledged the challenges faced, including limited resources and weak institutions inherited from previous administrations. He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing corruption and improving the material and social conditions of all Liberians.

Looking forward, President Boakai expressed hope and optimism for the future, emphasizing the importance of delivering service to the people and unveiling a National Development Plan to drive economic, political, and social strategies for the country’s development.

President Boakai urged all Liberians to join hands in building a prosperous and peaceful Liberia, reiterating his commitment to charting a course that would not disappoint the people.

The President’s report concluded with a call to “Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia,” and a prayer for God’s blessings and protection on the nation.
