President Joseph Nyuma Boakai officially dedicated the newly constructed 14th Judicial Circuit Court Complex in Cestos City, Rivercess County. The event on Monday, August 12, 2024, was marked by the presence of notable dignitaries, including members of the Legislature, Chief Justice Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh, members of the judiciary, cabinet officials, county authorities, municipal representatives of Cestos City, and the media.
In his address, President Boakai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening democracy, upholding the rule of law, and promoting good governance in Liberia. He emphasized that the new Judicial Complex plays a vital role in decentralizing governance and bringing the rule of law closer to the people. By establishing judicial infrastructure in Rivercess County, the government aims to devolve power to a broader segment of the population, fostering more equitable access to justice.
President Boakai also highlighted the Government’s A.R.R.E.S.T. Agenda, an initiative focusing on Accountability, Rule of law, Reforms, Economic stabilization, Security, and Transparency. He underscored the importance of a strong judiciary, stating that the Executive Branch remains committed to working closely with the Judiciary to ensure a just and equitable justice system. This collaboration, he noted, is essential in tackling critical issues like corruption, abuse of power, and the travesty of justice that have long plagued Liberia’s governance.
In a call for unity, the President urged greater coordination, collaboration, and cooperation among the three branches of government to address these challenges effectively. He appealed to Liberians to adopt a new mindset geared toward nation-building and justice, emphasizing that a collective effort is necessary to sanitize the system and rebuild trust in Liberia’s institutions.
President Boakai concluded by encouraging a renewed sense of unity among Liberians and called for collective trust-building efforts within the judicial system. The dedication of the 14th Judicial Circuit Court Complex in Rivercess County, he remarked, signifies a meaningful stride toward promoting justice, equality, and good governance—pillars central to the A.R.R.E.S.T. Agenda.
