MONROVIA – Jerry K. Yogboh, Representative of District #12, Montserrado County, has released a comprehensive report detailing his legislative activities during the Second Regular Quarter of the First Session and the Second Extraordinary Sitting of the 55th Legislature. In a statement to his constituents, Rep. Yogboh expressed gratitude for their ongoing support, calling it an “uncommon honor” as he presented his achievements and plans for the district.
The Second Regular Quarter of the House of Representatives ran from May 16, 2024, to July 18, 2024. However, pressing national issues, particularly the need to recast the 2024 National Budget, prompted an extraordinary session, which began on August 29 and will continue until September 13, 2024.
Rep. Yogboh outlined his responsibilities as a legislator, focusing on the three main functions: lawmaking, representation, and oversight. He emphasized his duty to inform his constituents about his performance, including social contributions and developmental projects in District #12. He also reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the District Development Council (DDC), community leaders, elders, and youth to advance the district’s growth and development.
“As we await the commencement of the Third Quarter of the First Session, I call on all stakeholders to join me in working for the betterment of District #12 and Liberia as a whole,” Rep. Yogboh stated.
In his introduction, the representative provided an overview of the Liberian Legislature, comparing its structure to that of the United States Congress. The bicameral system consists of the House of Representatives, with 73 seats apportioned by county population, and the Senate, with 30 members. He highlighted the political diversity within the House, with 11 political parties represented.
Rep. Yogboh’s report serves as both an update on his activities and a call to action for the people of District #12, emphasizing unity and collaboration to address pressing development needs. As Liberia moves forward, his constituents will be closely watching his leadership and contributions to national and local governance.
